Morris View Nursing Home Ministry
A team of parish volunteers assists on Tuesday mornings in bringing residents to Chapel for Mass. Communion is brought to the bedside or unit of those who are unable to attend.
Pastoral Care ministers provide assistance to the family in making funeral arrangements and in planning and preparing the funeral liturgy, wake service and cemetery rites.
Ministry to the Sick and Homebound
This ministry provides visitation to those who are homebound, whether temporarily following hospitalization or for a protracted time due to conditions or age. Extraordinary ministers bring Holy Communion to those at home, in nursing homes or in other care facilities, helping to provide spiritual support to the homebound and a feeling of closeness to the larger parish community.
Pastoral Care ministers provide individual assistance to the bereaved during the time of grief and offer periodic programs during the course of the year. Those who suffer a loss are supported each month for one year with a newsletter to help them during this difficult time.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Care and the love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are worked into every stitch of the shawl. Shawls have been used for centuries as universal and embracing symbols of an unconditionally loving God.
