TThe mission of the Evangelization Ministry
BBring the Good News of Jesus into every human situation and seeking to convert individuals and sssociety by the divine power of Gospel itself; the transmission of Christian faith.
AAssist the pastor in cultivating a culture of evangelism by sharing the Gospel with each of the ggroups of the New Evangelization—those who do not know Jesus Christ, those whose faith has faded, and “ordinary” Catholics who continually need to deepen their relationship with God.
Role of the Evangelization Ministry
Since evangelization is the mission of the entire Church and all its members, the Evangelization Ministry functions as a catalyst to help the whole parish, and all its ministries, to evangelize. The Ministry is not merely the “designated” evangelizers of the parish alongside all the other ministries of the parish. It exists to examine all the various ministries of the parish and how they can serve the mission of evangelization.
The Ministry helps the other ministries at St. Virgil’s develop mission statements that depict, not what they do, but why they exist and that they are “in-line” with the overall mission of St. Virgil’s and that they include reference to evangelization.
Although the team will be making efforts for Evangelization, their broader goal is to start to advocate for evangelization on all levels of parish life. Every Catholic needs to be aware that they are called to be an evangelist at all times. Old patterns of thinking and acting need to be formed into new ways that will enable the Holy Spirit to move more freely as the converter of hearts.
