The Saint Virgil Adult Choir, under the direction of Patrick B. Phillips, is open to all those from 9th grade and older. We sing in four-part harmony and sing a mix of traditional music at the 10:30 AM Mass on Sundays and all Holy Days from Labor Day through Pentecost.
Rehearsals are flexible and usually take place on Wednesday evenings during the performance season.
The Children's Choir, under the direction of Bernadette Burke, is open to all children from 1st through 8th grades. We sing during the Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons and at other select 9:00 AM Family Masses on Sundays. Students in the Confirmation Program may join this ensemble for service hours.
The Youth Band, under the direction of Nina Rangel, provides contemporary music at the 12:00 PM Masses on Sundays. This group rehearses and is open young people from 7th grade through college-aged students. Instrumentalists and singers are welcome. Students in the Confirmation Program may join this ensemble for service hours.
The Schola is our professional team of vocalists and instrumentalists, generally present during significant Holy Days, such as Christmas and Easter, and for other special liturgies throughout the year.
Volunteer solo cantors provide musical leadership for every weekend Mass and on Holy Days. They generally sing with one of the choirs, but this is not required. Cantoring is open to any interested individuals through a casual private audition with the Director of Music. Cantors are always scheduled for masses according to their personal schedules.
